Hoover Dam

On Saturday morning we drove out to Hoover Dam, located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas and spans the Colorado River between Arizona and Nevada.  Hoover Dam was completed in 1935 and is named for President Herbert Hoover.  They have built a new visitors center, gift shop, cafe and parking garage since we last visited.  They have also built a new four lane bridge across the Colorado River between Nevada and Arizona.  The Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge was opened in October 2010.  It takes the traffic off the two lane highway across the dam.
