Chattanooga, Tennessee

On Monday morning, 31 Oct, we left Nashville and drove to Chattanooga, Tennessee to spend a few days to visit Ray's brother Jerry and his wife Carolyn.  They own and manage a Laundromat.  On Wednesday they had to work at the Laundromat all day so Ray & I decided to play tourist.  We went to the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.  It was created to preserve the sites of the two major battles of the Civil War; the Battle of Chickamauga & Chattanooga Campaign.  Chickamauga was one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War.  Today the National Park Service manages this battlefield as a historic site.  We started at the Chickamauga Visitors Center and then took the 7 mile self-guiding auto tour which features historical tablets and monuments representing the Union and Confederate soldiers.  We then drove to the Lookout Mountain Battlefield which was called "Battle above the clouds."  There were more monuments and beautiful views.
We had a nice time in Chattanooga and enjoyed spending time with Jerry & Carolyn.  We left Chattanooga this morning.  Tonight we are at a KOA in Statesville, NC.  We will be in LaGrange, NC tomorrow afternoon.  We will stay until after Thanksgiving.  Look forward to spending time with Patrick, Teresa and Tristain.
