We have enjoyed our stay in the Ventura, California area. We arrived at the Point Mugu Recreation Area on Friday 20 April. Point Mugu is a Naval Air Station/Ventura County Naval Base. The RV Park is about 30 feet from the Pacific Ocean. You can hear the surf hit the beach and makes for good sleeping. Besides the RV Park there is also a Beach Motel. On Saturday evening the power went out in the park, motel and half the base. It was still out on Monday morning and they didn't know when it would be restored so we decided we needed to move. We don't have a generator and we didn't want our batteries to run down. There is another Navy Base about 7 miles from Point Mugu, Port Hueneme that has a RV Park. Ray called and they said they had some open sites so we moved to the Fairway RV Resort on Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Center (Seabee's). It is a really nice park beside the golf course.

There are several different sea birds. These Pelicans were always sitting on this sea wall.

Fairways RV Park is having issues with the Immigrant Children Dorm. Main RV Park entrance has been closed and an alternate "emergency" gate has been opened for RV access. Unfortunately, the S turn to get into the park is so tight that myself and other RV's have damaged their rigs making the second 90 degree turn. Recommendation? Stay away until the Immigrant Dorm has been decommissioned and the main entry road opened back up. Or make sure your RV insurance include collision. And a last note, if you decide to be responsible and call the Military Police and report your scuffing of the gate, be prepared to get a moving violation ticket for make an incorrect turn. "Go Navy!"
ReplyDeleteTight entrance but navigated just fine with our 42 ft 5th wheel. Great stay.
