Traveling in our 5th Wheel: Our Travel Update

Well since my last post we have been to Mesa, back to Benson, then to Yuma, Az, Needles, CA and now we are in Bakersfield, California. We spent 4 days at the Mesa Spirit RV Resort. We met up with our friends Joan & Chuck and had a nice visit. Joan wasn't feeling real well. She had surgery on her hand the week before and was still in a lot of pain. She felt well enough to challenge us to a game of Rack-O which we enjoyed. We decided to go back to Benson to the SKP Saguaro Co-Op Park for a week. We had a nice restful week. We only left the park to do grocery shopping. We enjoyed meeting other escapees and joining in some of the activities at the park. We enjoyed a couple good meals at the club house and a great Magic Show. It was a nice stay. We then headed over to Yuma to see our escapee friends from Washington. We met for lunch at the "Eat" Chinese Buffet, 16 from Chapter 5 and a Canadian couple from British Columbia. So nice seeing everyone.
We left Yuma on Monday and stopped in Needles, California for the night. We stopped at the Needles Elks Lodge RV Park. They have 9 full hook-up sites and the price of $16.50 a night is good. Monday night was Make Your Own Taco night so we enjoyed going up to the Lodge for dinner. We planned to spend only one night in Needles, but we ended up being there for 2 nights. Tuesday morning there was a Wind Warning for Needles area and I-40 corridor.....they forecasted sustained winds 30-40 mph + gusts 50-75 mph. We decided it would be safer to stay put. Sure glad we weren't out on the highway because their forecast was correct. It was a miserable day and night. Our trailer was really rocking with the high winds and especially the gusts. Tuesday night was Pork Chop Dinner night at the Lodge so we went up for dinner. Everything in the trailer was covered with sand....reminded me of when we lived in Las Vegas.
The high wind warnings were lifted around midnight so we were able to leave Needles this morning. We had head winds most of today, but nothing like yesterday. Tonight we are in Bakersfield and no wind, but there is a frost warning. I think we will sleep a lot better tonight. Tomorrow we will head north. We plan to arrive in Bothell, Washington on 14 March.
