On June 28th Ray, Diane, Lily and I flew out of SeaTac at 6:10am to Atlanta, GA.  We rented a car in Atlanta and drove to Athens, GA.  We went to Athens to celebrate Ray's cousin Hoyt Sappe's 80th birthday.  His daughter Lynette planned a wonderful birthday party held on Saturday, June 30th.  The party was held at Lyni's sorority house.  The house is empty for the summer and was the perfect place to hold the party.  Family and friends from GA, NC, FL, VA, TX, PA, TN & WA came to celebrate Hoyt's birthday.  We had a nice weekend except for the unusually hot temperatures in Athens.  The temps stayed over 100 with Saturday reaching 110 degrees.  Way too hot for us. We were sure happy the hotel had air conditioning.  We didn't spend too much outside, everyone even waited until the evening to go swimming.

We returned to Washington and Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell on 29 May.  We returned in time to attend the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade program at Lily's school.  The program was "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" and all the songs they sang had to do with baseball.  It was a fun program and they did a great job. The last day of school for Lily was on 22 June.
Ken and I celebrated our birthday on the 3rd of June.  For those who may not know, my son-in-law Ken and I celebrate our birthdays on the same day-4 June.  We both love Copper River Salmon which arrives from Alaska late May, so we always find a local restaurant that is serving the salmon.  This year it was Ivar's Mukilteo Landing, situated on the water next to the ferry dock in Mukilteo.  Diane had cake and ice cream back at their house.  It was a wonderful evening.

(I have got behind in posting on my blog, so I will try to get it up-to-date in a few days.)
We spent 6 days at the Seaside Oregon Thousand Trails Park the end of May before returning to Washington. We were there over Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed the food and entertainment at the park.  We went into Seaside and visited the Seaside Aquarium and walked around the town. One of the days we drove to Tillamook, Oregon to go to the Tillamook Air Museum and the Tillamook Cheese Factory to have lunch, buy some cheese and have a bowl of delicious Tillamook ice cream.  We really enjoyed the area and hope to go back again.

The museum is in a former Military Blimp Hanger, called Hanger "B",  the largest clear-span wooden structure in the world.
Hanger B was constructed by the US Navy in 1943 to house blimps for anti-submarine patrol and convoy escort.  Hanger A built the same year was destroyed by fire in 1992.  Together the 2 hangers housed 8 K-class blimps - each 252 ft long.
After the surrender of the Japanese the blimps were sent to California and Tillamook NAS was decommissioned in 1946.
The hanger has been home to one of the top five privately owned aircraft collections since 1996.
